Life in the sleepy village of Bandalingampally spirals into chaos when residents learn that NASA’s Skylab, will fall and crash straight onto their homes.

Synopsis:
Skylab is a whimsical period comedy-drama based on true events. In 1979 , when news spreads that America’s space station, Skylab , might crash into Earth , there is confusion and chaos.
Set in a fictional village in Telangana , at the heart of the story are three unlikely characters — Gauri , an educated and idealistic young woman aspiring to be a journalist ; Anand , a struggling doctor determined to set-up a modern clinic ; and Ramarao , an opportunist finding ways to escape poverty.
As radio broadcasts announce the possibility of Skylab debris falling over India — specifically over the region of Bandalingampally — rising hysteria elevates rumour to prophecy and everyday life to absurd spectacle. Some prepare for the apocalypse , while others exploit the fear. As the countdown to the crash begins, everyday life unravels into a forty-day festival of panic-fuelled, thoroughly unintended comedy.
Amidst the chaos , the film explores small-town aspirations , social norms , and the power of shared imagination , showing how a distant event can quietly become a catalyst for personal change.

Director’s note:
When I first read about the chaos the news of Skylab’s imminent fall caused in Southern India I was fascinated.
This fascination deepened into an unstoppable urge to tell this story when my father told me about the real extent of the confusion that took place in his village in 1979. Some of those stories were too fantastical but they nevertheless happened. The fear of death made them happen.
And I started out to capture the essence of what I felt when I heard those tales. Hope you feel it too.
